FP-UA’s new partner on Site 1: ParexGroup, Inc.

ParexGroup, Inc is the newest partner of FP-UA. It is donating some of its DAVCO K10 PU Plus product, a waterproofing coating, for Site 1, barangay Agujo, in Daanbantayan. Habitat for Humanity Philippines, will spread the product on the roofs of the houses to increase their resilience to rain. This village includes 74 permanent homes and one Multi-Purpose Center. It is part of a rehabilitation and relocation project which will benefit families who lost their homes to typhoon Haiyan in November 2013 and/or communities that still live in zones at risk during cyclones such as seashores. Launch of the French Chamber Foundation

Six months after President Hollande announced the conversion of France-Philippines United Action (FP-UA) into the French Chamber Foundation, the organization has officially been presented to the members of the Filipino-French business community. On September 9, 2015, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines announced the creation of its Foundation, which will perpetuate the actions of FP-UA. This launch was made official during a breakfast meeting organized by the French Chamber in partnership with Banco De Oro, Inc. to welcome the French expatriates back to Manila after their summer break. This announcement comes 6 months after French President François Hollande visited the Philippines in order to build diplomatic momentum ahead of the COP21 Climate Change conference, which will be held in Paris at the end of the year. The MoU for Site 3 has been signed and the project in Bogo is thus set to start

On September 8 2015, the Memorandum of Agreement which binds Cités-Unies France, France Philippines-United Action, Habitat for Humanity and the Municipality of Bogo was signed by Mayor Celestino E. Martinez Jr. of Bogo City ; thereby officially launching FP-UA’s Site 3 project.   This site will be located on a 1 hectare lot in barangay Cayang, in the municipality of Bogo situated in the north of Cebu Island. The village will include 100 houses on the same model  as the houses already buit on Site 1 in barangay Agujo. This hyperbolic paraboloid house design was developed by Architect E. Florentino after typhoon Haiyan in order to resist to intensity 8 earthquakes and high velocity 275-300kph winds. The NGO Habitat for Humanity, to which Architect Florentino offered the design model, will be in charge of building the facilities. France-Philippines United Action thanks Ambassador Gilles Garachon for his support.

The French coordination structure building villages for the victims of typhoon Haiyan bids farewell to H.E. Gilles Garachon who launched the project back in November 2013 and supported its development into a foundation.   After spending three years in the Philippines, H.E. French Ambassador Gilles Garachon will leave the country at the end of the month. The members and partners of France-Philippines United Action (FP-UA), a platform coordinating post-Haiyan rehabilitation projects led by the French business sector, gathered on July 28 to bid their last farewell to the French Ambassador as well as to thank him for his strong support for their projects. In fact, the idea of creating a structure in charge of coordinating the relief and rehabilitation initiatives of the French business community after typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines came from the Ambassador himself, just a few days after the disaster in November 2013. Site 1, barangay Agujo in Daanbantayan: The construction of the 74 houses and the Multi-Purpose Center have been completed. The last phase needed is the site development (construction of concrete roads and sidewalks, drainage and water distribution system etc) in order for beneficiary families to move in. Thanks to Lafarge and Megacem’s donations, the construction works for site development are now funded and the village will soon be completed.This last phase will be executed by SERGS Cooperative, a partner of Habitat for Humanity Philippines, and will take 2-3 months. Site 2, barangay Paypay in Daanbantayan: The construction of the 148 houses on Site 2 are well under way with 75% of the site now complete. The constructions of the multipurpose center and the clinic are expected to start this coming month (July). Site 1, barangay Agujo in Daanbantayan: The construction of the 74 houses and the Multi-Purpose Center have been completed. The site now needs site development (concrete roads and sidewalks, drainage and water distribution system etc) for families to be able to move in. FP-UA will be fundraising the P 3,300,000 needed to complete the site development of Site 1 in order to turn over the village to the beneficiary families as soon as possible. Site 2, barangay Paypay in Daanbantayan: The construction on Site 2 is well under way with 98 houses (out of 128) currently being built, and the site development 80% complete. The construction of the multi-purpose center and the clinic is expected to start this coming month. This site should be ready for turnover by June this year.
